| one-of-a-kind custom designs for weddings, dress-up, and fun by Laurie Tavan, needle ninja |

This dress was a design collaboration between the client and me. She had a very well-developed, cohesive design of what she wanted, and the implementation details evolved during the mock-up process. This gradual design process was very rewarding.

application: Wedding
What do you wear to a Halloween-themed wedding? Certainly not a white princess gown - unless you're going as the damsel in distress. This client is anything but! She's a confident, decisive woman who knows what she wants. She came to me looking for a 50s-inspired dress with elaborate pleating details and a lace petticoat. This dress is the product of her imagination and my perspiration. The rich red and black shot dupioni looks amazing with the pleating textural detail. A small heart-shaped net accent at the neck adds a crowning touch. Everything was draped and fitted over her custom wedding corset.
This client's wedding can be seen featured at offbeatbride.com. Check out the second page (see link to right) for photos of the dress in action courtesy of Chung Li Photography.
