Designer's Note:

The original cape was made by Kathy Kingman in 2007. It was modified in 2008 at the request of the current Dickens costume director. As with all of my works including fur, this cape uses only furs purchased second-hand.

application: Dickens Christmas Fair

Queen Victoria Cape

I designed modifications to this cloak to improve its wearability and visibility at Dickens Fair. It was disassembled, re-interlined, re-sewn, and trimmed with cream fur and tassels. The front panels were prick-stitched and stabilized to a stiff interlining to make them lay flat. Tassels were added for weight and contrast. For quick costume change purposes, the cloak now includes a ribbon tie at the neck. You can view the associated dress here.
