Designer's Note:

Modeled by Janine. The caul is attached to the exterior of the attifet by hatpins, as requested by the client. This client enjoys hats so much that she ordered two different ones for this gown. Click here for photos of the pillbox cap seen in the last photo.

Decorated Silk Attifet

A proper hat tops off any outfit. For a noble of the court of Mary, Queen of Scots, the stylish choice is the attifet, a heart-shaped hat that beautifully frames the face and hair. This example features hand-pearled, ruched silk trim, embroidered lining, and a matching silk caul. The caul can be worn as shown, attached at the back of the hat, or underneath the hat, holding and attached to the wearer's hair.
