I cut this out almost 2 years ago as a sample to test out a La Mode Illustree pattern. I made the mock-up and fit it to one of my friends at the time & now it is finally actually made!!!
This patterning is based off of the red & black lozenge under-bust with the torso lengthened from under-bust to the waist. I wanted to make a quick corset so I just popped on the mock-up from the other corset and adjusted like I would normally. This worked since my client has the same proportions to me but is shorter waisted.
We are waiting till Dickens ends & Rene is out off school before doing a photo-shoot but here are some photos she took as I was finishing up the final stitching:
Draping ideas for a cream accent at the “v” in the front of the bodice. This shows the first idea which was scrapped for a shape that followed the “v” shape of the neckline.

Here is the shaping of the final piece:

The panels are all constructed and awaiting grommets. The back panel still needs to be made once I get the embroidery done on the lining. Everything has to be done in order

The lace is pinned into place and will be hand-sewn tomorrow. The bones are all cut and binding ready to apply after a fitting to double check the height of the corset with the increase reduction from the initial mock-up. There is quite a curvy shape here. I can’t wait to see it on a body.
I’m considering binding it in purple instead of the black. I need to determine the sizing of the binding that will work best with the ribbon laced through it for the top edge. I’m rather fond of the 1/4″ binding but 1/2″ might be called for in this situation. I’ve been told to “play” so all the options are possible. I just need to pick what works best!
We had a limited amount of Belgium lace and tried a bunch of possible placements. The final arrangement with it over the under-bust only was the cleanest and most elegant choice. We also played with different widths of blue on the bodice. We stayed with a more consistent width instead of doing the small edge seen here:

We had enough to do the halter strap but in the end the blue accent alone at the neck framed her better and brought out her eyes more. So you will see a blue halter strap in the final wedding gown.
My client found this lovely Belgium lace to accent her Wedding gown. Isn’t it perfect!

The white lace will tie in with the primary white silk of the gown and create a more subdued accent under the bustline when laid over the blue silk as seen in this photo.
Here are some images of the piecework done on the yoke of the Edwardian inspired wedding gown recently featured on my website.

The yoke was carefully pieced together and invisibly whipped together from the back to create a continuous lace piece that was correctly shaped. Later the the scalloped edging was pieced on the edge of the entire yoke.

These photos show the detail at the busk including the planned lace treatment along the girdle. The lace was custom dyed purple. The first dye batch turned out too red but the second batch was just right
I think it is a charming muted dark purple.
