Red & Gold: Playing make-believe

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

I’ve finally gotten a photoshoot done of the red and gold pair of bodies. It is paired with a petticoat in matching silk damask. This is not a stab at a historical garment but a whimical journey into make-believe. Sometimes a girl just wants to look like a doll. I’ve made a matching bridle for my hobby horse Cocoa Nibs, most fondly nicknamed His nibs. He really likes to nibble on sweet nibs of candy.

I actually have many hobby horses and one hobby moose. I’ll soon make a bridle for Chocolate moose as well most likely in green. I’ve added the pony with his bridle to the dolls section:

Red Kontusz in memoriam

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

This polish coat was commissioned by my dear friend Sally who passed on earlier this year. Sally took pride in adeptly playing the role of Lord Carl Gyllenhammar for many years. She is very much missed. I am finishing this coat in memoriam.

It saddens me that she only got to try it on once when I visited and presented her with a gift of a mini Carl doll.

1930s EffanBee doll Outfit reproduction

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

My grandfather recently gifted me his Effanbee doll under the condition that I make a reproduction dress for the sweetheart. She is in good condtion but the fabric of her entire outfit has shattered beyond repair.I’ve started by taking tons of photographs of the original outfit and drafting a pattern. I’m currently sourcing appropriate materials for this project.

Here are some photos:
