Dickens Fair: bonnets in progress
November 11th, 2009Preparation for Dickens Christmas Fair is well under way
Made it through the first workshop weekend as well as dancing practice with the Prince consort(s) tonight. I wanted a fun project & these have been fun so far. I have one more I’ll probably work on this week.
Bonnets (along with the pattern changes for a bodice I helped drape for my housemate last night):

My mother-in-law is selling her wares at the rehearsal weekends up in Pacifica. I’m thinking I’ll have her put these at her booth to see if anyone is interested.

Gorgeous. Wish I could come out to Dickens again – thats where I first saw you in 2007!!
Question: what do you use as the base for the bonnets? Buckram and wire?

These hats are actually refurbished wool hats that have been modified. I have used buckram in the past without wire & with wire with success.
@ Bess Yes I remember you telling me you were at Dickens fair in 2007. I wish you could come back too! I don’t remember actually meeting you until Costume Con. But Dickens Fair goes by in a blur with all the wonderful crowds & activity
